On June 7, 2018, I attended Coyotes in Two Directions Event by Sarah Rosalena Brady at Art-Sci Center Gallery at UCLA. This event was somewhat special for me because when I first looked around the exhibition, I had no idea what they were, and what they represented. At first I thought I came to the wrong place. When someone guided me that this was the correct spot, I slowly looked around and read the description on the website. “Coyotes in Two Directions examines the signifier of the trickster and shapeshifter as a symbolic metaphor to create techno-hybrid forms. Coyotes are symbolic in mythology and present in Western urban landscapes as one of the most successful animals surviving the Anthropocene. Emergent forms are employed through sculpture, automata, and 3D scans “(Coyotes in Two Directions). On May 31, 2018, I attended UCLA Design Media Arts presents Weak or No Signal, the final MFA showcase of the graduating class of 2018 which was located at the New Wight Gallery at UCLA’s Broad Art Center. This event was for Cannily co-opting a large range of vocabularies the show articulates contemporary subject matters, from hyper-mediated social relationships to artificial intelligence; technological utopianism; and the increasing fallibility of the image. The work draws from pop imagery, pseudoscience, native American and Mexican representations, corporate aesthetics and cinema, immersing the viewer into unfamiliar territory. Me at the HOX ZODIAC Event On May 26th, I went to HOX ZODIAC at Building Bridges Art Exchange Center. Before I went to the event, I had no idea what HOX ZODIAC was. However, when I saw the zodiac calendar, I knew what they were. This event was about Hox gene evolved into a “dinner” and see the deep relationship with animals as companions, food and lab experiment. The artist and scientist seek to bring into the public this relationship in a way that expands the idea of the zodiac and puts the humans into the role of an animal that they have been assigned culturally (Hox Zodiac). This week's lecture was beyond the Earth: the Space.  Like Professor Vesna said, this week's topic is a culmination of all the topics we have covered up to this point because space is so vast and incorporates a number of different subtopics within it (Vesna).  I especially enjoyed learning about the history of space, specifically things like the atomic bomb, the Cold War, the Space Race, Star Wars!  THE ART OF NEGATIVE SPACE In this week's lecture Professor Vesna talked about the Space Race, and to me this is an incredibly important period in American history. Because of the Space Race and the Cold War, the United States has asserted its superpower status in the world after knocking off the rival that was the USSR.  Between Sputnik, the Apollo missions, and many other advances, the US and the USSR both put large sums of money into the Space Race.  Many argue that this was a waste of money, but because of this exploration we made many advances in modern technolo
